G1 Written Test

Knowledge Test at DriveTest

Study the MTO handbook and pass a multiple-choice test about road rules and signs.

40 questions (20 rules + 20 signs)
Must score 80% or higher
Valid for 5 years

G2 Road Test

Basic Road Test

After 12 months (or 8 with BDE), take a road test covering basic driving skills and parking.

~20 minute test
Parallel & reverse parking
No highway component

G Full License

Advanced Road Test

After holding G2 for 12 months, take the advanced test including highway driving.

~30 minute test
Highway entry/exit required

Master Parallel Parking

Use the reference point method: align your rear bumper with the car ahead, turn fully, then straighten when at 45 degrees.

Check Blind Spots Religiously

Examiners watch for shoulder checks before every lane change and turn. Make it obvious turn your head.

Control Your Speed

Stay within 5 km/h of the limit. Too fast is an instant fail; too slow shows hesitation.

We practice the actual DriveTest routes in Pickering so there are no surprises on test day.
